Background/idea:
Photographs have always facinated me, especially imags depicting people, Arctic people. I find Jette Bang´s portraits and descriptions to be so intimate and insistent that it was easy to pick this area as the focus of my thesis at the Dept. of Eskimology. The thesis was intitled: “Jette Bang in picture and words 1940 – 1961 – the photograph as a bridge”

During my reseach, my attention was led to the poor condition of a large part of the photo collection. I started the project: “The returning of the Jette Bang collection to Greenland”.
The project included preservation, scanning and registration of collection I and II. Exhibitions in the local museums of Greenland and collection of new information concerning the photos among the local people.
